Understanding: Through purposeful practice, artists learn to manage, master, and refine simple, then complex, skills and techniques.

Benchmark: Sight-read standard exercises and simple repertoire.
Remarks: e.g., note and rest values, key signatures, time signatures, expressive markings, special harmonic and/or notation symbols
