Students will be able to:

  • play one octave major scales and arpeggios by ear given a starting note, then sing using solfège syllables and/or scale degrees.

  • identify intervals numerically, given both visually and aurally.

  • echo rhythms and simple melodies given the first note.
  • decipher (sound out) melodies in a major tonality by ear, given the first note, and translate them to solfège syllables.
