Big Idea: Skills, Techniques, and Processes

Students will be able to:

  • play one octave major scales and arpeggios by ear, and sing using solfège syllables and/or scale degrees.
  • identify intervals both numerically and qualitatively, given both visually and aurally.
  • echo rhythms and melodies given the first note.
  • translate an excerpt from the class repertoire to solfège syllables.
  • sing and then play intervals found in class repertoire.

Students will know:

  • major scale
  • solfège: syllables and hand signs
  • major arpeggio
  • intervals (numerically)
