Students will be able to:

  • recognize and describe the necessary factors for an effective personal practice plan.
  • discuss rehearsal strategies and their application to personal practice, e.g., technical exercises, flexibility exercises, long tones, etc.
  • evaluate progress on a section of music following a rehearsal session and identify strategies for further improvement.
  • develop a plan for a student-led sectional rehearsal.
  • recognize and describe the necessary factors for an effective ensemble rehearsal.

Students will know:

  • components of an effective practice plan (e.g., goal oriented objectives, specified practice time, tone and skill builders, etc.)
  • components of an ensemble rehearsal (e.g., differentiated instruction, time management, rehearsal etiquette, warm up routine, etc.)
