Students will be able to:

  • echo short rhythmic phrases.
  • echo short melodic phrases based on a pentatonic scale.
  • write notation for rhythms that have been performed by someone else.
  • write notation for melodic patterns presented aurally, using steps and repeated tones within a pentatonic scale, i.e., three to five notes on the syllable "loo".

Students will know:

  • Rhythm: quarter note/rest, beamed eighth notes, half note/rest, whole note/rest, dotted half note, meter 2/4, 3/4, 4/4.
